The Cat in the Hat by Dr Seuss
It’s a rainy day and Dick and Sally can’t find anything to do . . . until the Cat in the Hat unexpectedly appears and turns their dull day into a fun-filled extravaganza and almost wrecking the house in the process! This book features characters such as Fish and Thing 1 and Thing 2, it’s fun to read aloud and its written using just 236 different words. Lets join the Cat in the Hat as he makes learning to read a joy!
After reading The Cat in the Hat the preps made their own hat from some sweet treats: half an oreo, raspberry lollies, marshmallows cut in half and melted white chocolate for glue. Yes, it was a sticky mess but lots of FUN to eat, all very similar to the chaos the Cat in the Hat created in the story.
The fun didn’t stop with the Hats…
The preps got to use the Dr Seuss Camera app ($2.99). The app allows you to take selfies and then add the selfie to several Dr Seuss characters. The preps saved their pictures (numerous of them) and then we chose one of them to print for their scrapbooks.
